Panthers Make Contact with Stephon Gilmore: Report

According to sources, there are rumors that Stephon Gilmore may be considering a return to the Carolina Panthers. It is reported that the Panthers have reached out to Gilmore about the possibility of rejoining the team. The 33-year-old former cornerback played for the Panthers in the latter part of the 2021 season after being traded from the Patriots in exchange for a sixth-round pick. During his time with Carolina, Gilmore appeared in nine games with eight starts, totaling 16 tackles and two interceptions.

After leaving the Panthers, Gilmore signed a two-year deal with the Indianapolis Colts and started in all 16 games in 2022. He was later traded to the Dallas Cowboys, where he started all 17 games for the team and played in 94 percent of defensive snaps. Throughout his impressive career, which spanned playing for several teams including Buffalo, New England, Indianapolis, Carolina and Dallas, Gilmore has participated in 165 games and accumulated an impressive record of 140 passes defended along with 31 interceptions.

Gilmore currently holds the No. 51 spot on PFT’s list of top free agents available, indicating that he is highly sought after by teams looking to bolster their defense. With his experience and skills on the field, Gilmore could be a valuable addition to any team looking to strengthen their secondary.
