Pittsburgh residents on Forbes’ 2024 list of the world’s billionaires

Forbes has released its annual list of the world’s billionaires, and Pittsburgh has a strong presence on the list. The 2024 list includes 2,781 billionaires with a combined net worth of $14.2 trillion. Forbes calculated each person’s wealth using stock prices and exchange rates from March 8, 2024.

Among those who made it to the list are three individuals with strong connections to the Steel City: Maggie Hardy, Mark Cuban, and David Tepper. Additionally, Thomas Tull and Ron Burkle, both with ties to Pittsburgh, also made the cut.

David Tepper is one of the greatest hedge fund managers of his generation and ranked No. 94 with a net worth of $20.6 billion. He founded Appaloosa Management in 1993 and owns the Carolina Panthers, as well as having roots in Pittsburgh’s Stanton Heights neighborhood. Mark Cuban has a net worth of $5.4 billion and came in at No. 563 on the list. He grew up in Mt Lebanon and recently sold his majority stake in the Dallas Mavericks, attended University of Pittsburgh

Maggie Hardy is owner and CEO of 84 Lumber holding a net worth of $4.1 billion landed her at spot No.775 .
