Diana, Princess of Wales was one of the most beloved members of the British royal family and her legacy continues to be felt 26 years after her death. Despite their tumultuous marriage, Charles and Diana’s love story is still remembered by many.

Their marriage began with a public fight during a pheasant hunt in 1989, but it only got worse from there. It was revealed that both Charles and Diana cheated on each other during their unhappy union.

On June 29, 1994, Charles made history by admitting to marital infidelity without naming the woman he had been unfaithful to. However, it was Princess Diana’s televised interview with Martin Bashir on November 20, 1995 that dealt the final blow to their marriage. Filmed in her sitting room at Kensington Palace, Diana spoke candidly about her struggles with postpartum depression and bulimia, as well as her own infidelity by cheating on Charles with army officer James Hewitt. She also admitted that her marriage with Charles was over. “There were three of us in this marriage,” she said, referring to Charles’ secret relationship with Camilla Parker-Bowles. The interview was conducted in secrecy and they smuggled the equipment into Kensington Palace.

Diana died just two years after the interview in a tragic car accident. Her legacy lives on as an inspiration to many around the world and a reminder of the importance of honesty and self-reflection in relationships.
