On May 4-5, Thomas A. Robinson Stadium in Nassau, Bahamas will host the World Athletics Relays, where 54 nations will compete for Olympic qualifying spots. Three Liberty athletes, Omari Lewis, Reese Webster, and former All-American Alejandro Perlaza Zapata are among those vying for a spot at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
On the first day of competition, the top two teams from each heat will move on to the finals on day two and secure their spots at the Paris Olympics. Teams in the finals will compete for prize money and obtain Olympic lane seeding positions. Additionally, teams that do not advance on the first day will have another chance on day two to secure their spot in Paris.
The events on May 4 will be televised on Peacock, with the mixed 4 x 400 heats starting at 7:05 p.m. Eastern followed by the women’s 4 x 100 heats at 7:50 and the men’s 4 x 100 heats at 8:25. The races on May 5 will be shown on both Peacock and CNBC starting at 7:05 p.m. Eastern.
