Big Turnout at COAST Health Fairs in Madisonville and Slidell | St. Tammany Community News

COAST recently organized two successful health fairs in the early summer, catering specifically to the needs of older residents. The first fair took place at the Madisonville Activity Center on May 31 and was attended by approximately 90 individuals, while the second fair was held at the Slidell Activity Center on June 14 and attracted over 100 people.

Both events featured a diverse range of vendors specializing in different aspects of health and wellness. Attendees had access to various health screenings, massage therapy sessions, mental health support, community resource information, and interactive fitness demonstrations. Chef Jeff Mattia from Pyre BBQ also showcased cooking demonstrations, emphasizing the benefits of anti-inflammatory foods and providing healthy food samples for guests.

Participants were entered into raffles for door prizes that promote healthy living, including Instant Pots and Magic Bullet blenders. Everyone who attended the health fairs received a COAST backpack filled with giveaways and informational materials. These events allow older adults to take proactive control of their health, acquire valuable knowledge, and connect with local resources and community support.

We would like to express our gratitude to all those who participated and contributed to the success of these health fairs. Keep an eye out for future events like this from COAST.
