Detroit High School Sports Awards: Who Will Win the Hockey Player of the Year?

The Detroit High School Sports Awards, presented by Detroit Area Honda Dealers, has announced the nominees for the Hockey Player of the Year. The winner will be revealed during a live show on June 18 at The Fillmore Detroit, in partnership with the U.S. Army. This program is part of a nine-month student-athlete recognition initiative that aims to honor athletes, coaches, and teams from the greater Detroit region participating in sanctioned Michigan High School Athletic Association sports.

The live show will recognize nominees for the other 28 sports as well as special awards for student-athletes, coaches, and teams that demonstrate exceptional on- and off-the-field achievements. These include the Courage Award, Coaches of the Year, Teams of the Year, and Boys and Girls Athlete of the Year. Nominated athletes who confirm their attendance will receive complimentary tickets to the event thanks to sponsors. Nominated athletes can register for the show while guests of nominees can purchase tickets online.

The nominees for Hockey Player of the Year include Will Barrett from Trenton High School, Joe Curtin from Novi Detroit Catholic Central High School, Garrett Dudlar from Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood School, Cam Duffany from Brighton High School, Nolan Galda from Novi Detroit Catholic Central High School, and John Kunz from Birmingham Brother Rice High School.
