In an exclusive interview with Paris Match, 70-year-old French first lady Brigitte Macron revealed the challenges she faced in her relationship with her 45-year-old husband, Emmanuel. She spoke about their decade-long journey together and how she waited ten years to marry him in order to avoid causing any harm to her children.

The couple first started dating when Emmanuel was just 15 years old and Brigitte was his drama teacher. Despite initial resistance from his parents and her concerns about age differences, they continued their relationship. She ultimately divorced her ex-husband in 2006 and later remarried Emmanuel in 2007.

Brigitte emphasized that she made sure to put her children on the right path before marrying Emmanuel, a decision that took 10 years to come to fruition. Her late ex-husband and she had one son and two daughters, who are now adults. Following her divorce, she was able to marry Emmanuel Macron, who went on to become the French President in 2017.
