The new Costco location in Fresno, California, will soon become one of the largest warehouses in the world. The city council recently approved the construction of a new retail emporium that will replace the existing Costco warehouse on West Shaw Avenue.
The new warehouse, located on North Riverside Drive and West Herndon Avenue, will occupy an empty lot and feature a 219,000-square-foot building, a 32-pump gas station, a car wash, and a dedicated food delivery service. Originally planned to be over 240,000 square feet, developers had to scale down the size of the new warehouse after community concerns. However, it is still expected to be approximately 50% bigger than the average U.S. Costco store at 146,000 square feet.
Construction on the new warehouse is set to begin in the fall and be completed by the end of 2025. With this expansion, Costco aims to provide its members with a better shopping experience through improved facilities and services. The store is expected to create 37 full-time jobs and generate $13 million in tax revenue with $3 million staying in Fresno County.
Local residents and Costco fans are eagerly awaiting the completion of this new and improved warehouse in Fresno. This development signifies growth for both Costco and Fresno’s economy as they continue to adapt to changing times.
