Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s mother, Donna Kelce, is a well-known figure in her own right for her famous chocolate chip cookies. In fact, it was a mug emblazoned with the words “It’s Mama Kelce’s world and we’re just living in it” that caught Donna’s eye and inspired her to purchase 20 of them as Christmas gifts for loved ones.
These mugs are not your ordinary mugs – they contain the entire recipe and directions for Donna Kelce’s cookie recipe and sell for about $18 each. They were created by a small business in the Kansas City area, Annie’s Barn, and with each mug sold, $5 goes towards paying off elementary school lunch debt.
After the mug caught Donna’s attention, she agreed to donate her cookie recipe to the mug project. According to Annie’s Barn owner Annie Stowe, the mugs sold enough to pay off roughly $2,000 in lunch debt at a school in the Kansas City area in just two weeks.
Stowe told People that Donna Kelce has not yet responded to her request to help deliver the checks to the schools. However, she reportedly plans to deliver checks to Pawnee Elementary in Overland Park, Kansas, as well as two schools in Olathe, Kansas.
Donna Kelce became famous for her cookies after making some for her sons Travis and Jason before they met in Super Bowl LVII in February 2023. The cookies are special because they are flat and more like toffee cookies. The first time she baked them, they came out flat. When she reached out to Donna Kelce, she told her she had done it right – the cookies are meant to be that way.
Donna is currently in Las Vegas watching Travis and the Kansas City Chiefs play against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIII. While she will be busy with that, sports fans interested in supporting this cause can visit Annie’s Barn’s website and purchase a “Mama Kelce” mug. They can be sure they will get a great cookie recipe too!
