WBC president expels Ryan Garcia following racist online outburst

Boxer Ryan Garcia has been expelled from the World Boxing Council (WBC) due to his controversial social media behavior. In a statement, WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman emphasized that they do not tolerate any form of discrimination. Garcia’s publicist and representatives from Golden Boy Promotions, his management company, did not respond immediately to requests for comments about the WBC’s decision.

In addition to being expelled from the WBC, Garcia is also serving a year-long suspension from the New York State Athletic Commission for testing positive for a banned substance before his April fight against Devin Haney. Questions surrounding Garcia’s mental state were raised prior to his fight with Haney due to his erratic behavior online. Despite defeating Haney in the match, the victory was later changed to a “no contest” due to the positive drug test.

Garcia was arrested last month at a hotel in Beverly Hills for causing more than $15,000 in damages to a guest room and hallway. These series of events have caused concern among fans and the boxing community about Garcia’s well-being.
