Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital recently held its annual health fair in Newberg, West Virginia, providing free and low-cost health screenings and education to the community. This event has been a part of the hospital’s community outreach programs since 2003, and is co-hosted by the Newberg Rotary Club. A portion of the proceeds from the health fair support the Newberg Rotary Club and their projects throughout the year.
The health fair was a collaborative effort between staff from Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital’s Laboratory, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Trauma, and Primary Care – Fellowsville, along with the Newberg Rotary Club, Newberg Senior Center, and ten other healthcare and community agencies. The event offered low-cost blood screenings, free vision screenings, and free blood pressure screenings, as well as educational resources on various health topics such as organ donation, stroke and heart attack symptoms, substance use prevention, respiratory care, and more.
Melissa Lockwood, Chief Administrative Officer of Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital expressed her satisfaction with this initiative saying “Health fairs like these are an important part of our mission to improve the health of the communities we serve. We are proud to partner with local organizations to educate people about healthcare options available in rural areas.” To learn more about Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital visit their website at MonHealth.com/Preston-Memorial-Hospital or for upcoming community outreach programs visit MonHealth.com/mh/health-fair.”
