Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard will miss out on Game 5 of their closely contested first-round playoff series against the Dallas Mavericks, as announced by Clippers coach Tyronn Lue on Tuesday. This will be the third game Leonard has missed out of the five played so far in the series, having also sat out Game 1 and Game 4.
Throughout the season, Leonard averaged 23.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.6 assists, playing in 68 games – his most since the 2016-17 season with the San Antonio Spurs. However, he struggled to find his rhythm in the playoff series, scoring a total of 24 points in two games without making a single three-pointer. Injuries have been a recurring issue for Leonard in recent years, as he has been unable to play a full healthy season since joining the Clippers in 2019.
Leonard missed the final eight games of the regular season due to right knee pain before making his return in the second and third games of the playoff series.
