Climate-Fueled Anxiety: Understanding and Overcoming the Psychological Effects of Climate Change

As the impacts of climate change become more visible and widespread, people around the world are experiencing mental health issues. Researchers have identified a growing area of interest in the psychological effects of climate change, known as “eco-anxiety.” To understand how it affects individuals in different parts of the world, Dr. Alison Hwong, a psychiatry fellow at the University of California San Francisco, joins guest host Maggie Koerth to discuss what scientists have learned about global eco-anxiety and the strategies that have been developed to reduce its harmful effects.
