Orlando executives rejoice in securing top spot on SBJ’s Best Sports Business Cities list

Orlando was recently named the top Sports Business City for Event Hosting by the Sports Business Journal. To celebrate this achievement, nearly 300 leaders from the Orlando sports community gathered at the Kia Center for an evening of festivities. The event began with a pre-event reception showcasing uniforms and trophies from local teams, as well as mascots from Orange County interacting with guests.

Amy Saunders, Chair of the Arnold Palmer Group and daughter of the late golfer Arnold Palmer, delivered opening remarks. Following her speech, a panel discussion moderated by SBJ’s Abe Madkour brought together influential figures from the city, including Magic CEO Alex Martins, Orlando City SC and Pride President of Business Operations Jarrod Dillon, UCF AD Terry Mohajir, and Greater Orlando Sports Commission President & CEO Jason Siegel. VIPs in attendance included UCF football coach Gus Malzahn, UCF men’s basketball coach Johnny Dawkins, along with members of the Magic, Orlando City, and the Pride.

The event concluded with a champagne toast led by Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer at the Sky Lounge overlooking downtown Orlando. The evening was a gathering of key figures in the Orlando sports community to celebrate the city’s recognition as a top sports business city for event hosting.
