IYRS School of Technology & Trades is hosting its 27th annual IYRS Summer Gala on Saturday, July 13 at 6 p.m. at the school’s campus. The event will feature musical guest Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue and will celebrate the school’s core values of craftsmanship, innovation, and community spirit.
The gala serves as a significant milestone for the school, showcasing its impact on students, graduates, and industry partners. Liz Isdale, Director of Philanthropy at IYRS, emphasized the importance of the gala and thanked supporters for their generosity in enabling the school’s work.
At IYRS, students learn various trades such as boatbuilding, marine systems, digital modeling & fabrication, and composites technology. Graduates go on to pursue careers in the marine industry or become entrepreneurs in various industries like motorsport, aerospace, and defense. The recent graduation day saw over 70 students launch several sailboats and a surf rescue boat. With an average graduation rate of 85 percent and an 85 percent graduate placement rate, IYRS has established over 700 industry partnerships to support its students and graduates.
The gala promises music from Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue headlining the event. Scholarship opportunities are available for nearly 80 percent of IYRS students interested in financial aid, scholarships or grants can visit the school’s website to learn more about them. To attend the event tickets can be purchased on the school’s website or make donations to support the school through their website.
