In 1977, Bojangles was founded in Charlotte, North Carolina. Over the years, it has become a well-known spot for customers like Charlie Lentz in Winston-Salem. Lentz, who has been visiting the restaurant for decades, is known for his regular order of the Leg & Thigh meal. This meal includes two pieces of chicken, two sides, and a biscuit and is always prepared ahead of time for him.
On his 105th birthday, Lentz was surprised with a party organized by Horace Spencer, the regional manager of Bojangles. The party was held at the restaurant in Winston-Salem and was attended by Lentz’s friends and family members. Lentz wore a Bojangles crown to celebrate the occasion.
Lentz typically visits Bojangles with his family and friends from church on Sundays. The restaurant opened in 1994 and has since become a familiar spot for locals in Winston-Salem. Today, Bojangles operates over 800 restaurants in 17 states across the US and is known for its southern-inspired dishes such as chicken and biscuits.
