The red panda exhibit at Buttonwood Park Zoo has been a popular attraction for many years. Now, thanks to a partnership with local IT company Micro Technology Solutions, Inc in Fairhaven, visitors can view these adorable animals from anywhere in the world through live streaming on BPZoo.org. Red pandas are an endangered species with a declining population over the last 20 years, but thanks to the efforts of 87 AZA accredited institutions worldwide, there are currently 219 red pandas being cared for.
In addition to the red pandas, Buttonwood Park Zoo recently welcomed a bearded emperor tamarin monkey in 2022. This cute monkey has quickly become a favorite among visitors. The zoo continues to provide unique animal experiences for those looking to learn about different species.
For families looking for outdoor fun, the Ultimate SouthCoast Playground Guide features 48 public playgrounds throughout Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. One hidden gem playground is the ‘bear-y’ cool playground at Roger Williams Park in Providence, perfect for kids who love to climb and explore. Whether visiting the zoo or exploring playgrounds, there are plenty of options for families to enjoy outdoor activities in the area.
