Health department building in Butler County destroyed in fire

A fire broke out early Sunday morning at the building that housed the Butler County Health Department and Butler County EMA office in Greenville, Alabama. Crews were alerted to the scene on Airport Road in Greenville at approximately 3:30 a.m. and found the building fully engulfed in flames. Despite their best efforts to extinguish the fire, the building was deemed a total loss.

Fortunately, no one was inside the building at the time of the fire, and there were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire remains unknown, with authorities ruling out arson as a potential cause.

In response to the fire, the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) staff is currently working to secure a temporary space to continue providing health services to the residents of Butler County. In the meantime, residents are encouraged to reach out to the Crenshaw County Health Department or nearby locations for health services.
