In a major drug bust, the Berlin-Brandenburg customs investigation office has discovered a significant amount of cocaine hidden in banana boxes at Lidl stores. A total of 223 kilograms of cocaine was found across eleven Lidl branches, with an estimated value of between 10 to 15 million euros based on a gram price of 50 to 80 euros.
While the customs investigation office provided specific details on the discovery, the police in Brandenburg declined to disclose any figures when asked. The spokesperson for the Brandenburg police headquarters mentioned that cocaine in the “low three-digit kilogram range” was found, without specifying the exact amount or locations where the drugs were discovered.
The cocaine is set to be destroyed on Friday. A joint investigation group comprising of state criminal investigation offices from Brandenburg and Berlin, as well as the customs investigation office, is actively working on the case.
