Bridging the Technology Gap: Chumash Foundation Launches Annual School Grants Program

The Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians Foundation is currently seeking grant applications for its Technology in Schools Program, which aims to support schools in Santa Barbara County. This program offers school administrators and faculty the opportunity to apply for funding for technology projects, including purchasing hardware, infrastructure, and other resources to enhance the curriculum. Since 2015, the program has provided over $430,000 in grants to schools in the area, such as Cabrillo High School in Lompoc.

Cabrillo High School used the grant funds to create a new reef exhibit in the school’s aquarium. Other schools have used the grants for projects like lighting systems in theaters and multimedia centers, as seen in Lompoc High and Dunn School. Interested parties can apply online before April 30th for next year’s program. For more information on how to apply or how to become involved with this initiative, they can visit the Chumash website or call 805-688-7997. News Channel 3-12 encourages respectful and relevant conversation among its viewers and provides a platform for civil and constructive discussions. If anyone has a story idea to share or would like to participate in community discussions, they can submit it on their website.
