Bridging the Digital Divide: The Emergence of Digital Navigators in the Hudson Valley

Digital Navigators of the Hudson Valley program is now available at several Mid-Hudson libraries to provide free technological assistance to those in need. This initiative has been launched to address the digital divide and bridge the gap between individuals with limited technological skills and those who rely heavily on technology. The program aims to provide a wide range of services that cater to diverse needs, including using devices, accessing internet services, filling out job applications, applying for benefits, and more.

Digital navigators are trained guides available at these libraries to assist individuals with various tasks. These trained guides are equipped with knowledge and skills that enable them to provide comprehensive guidance on how to navigate digital platforms seamlessly. In Ulster County, five libraries are participating in the program: Kingston Library, Elting Memorial Library, Plattekill Library, Town of Ulster Public Library, and Woodstock Public Library. Similarly, in Dutchess County, digital navigators can be found at Red Hook Library.
