The Journal-Courier, a local newspaper, is offering free classes to seniors struggling to keep up with rapidly changing technology. These courses will take place at the downtown Springfield center of Lincoln Land Community College, located at 130 W. Mason St. Laurel Bretz, an assistant vice president at LLCC, stated that the world’s movement towards digital services and access has left many older adults feeling isolated, frustrated, and socially excluded.
The courses will cover the basics of email, the internet, mobile devices, cybersecurity, computer basics, and video conferencing. More details about the classes and registration are available at llcc.edu/digital-literacy. David C.L. Bauer is the editor and publisher of the Journal-Courier. He joined the publication in 2009 as an editor and added publisher responsibilities in 2016. Bauer is a Cincinnati native who has worked as an editor for newspapers in Florida, Ohio, Kentucky and Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green.
