Bloomberg News Appoints New Editors for Economy/Government and Business & Economics Coverage

In a recent announcement made by Washington bureau chief Margaret Collins, Mario Parker has been appointed as the managing editor of economy/government at Bloomberg News. This news comes after Parker’s successful tenure as the White House and politics editor since January 2023, where he played a crucial role in covering the Republican presidential primary and President Joe Biden’s re-election bid. He also led Bloomberg’s national politics coverage and was a White House correspondent during the Trump administration.

Parker holds a bachelor’s degree from Benedictine College and a master’s degree from the University of Illinois, with over 15 years of experience in journalism. With his new appointment, he will oversee coverage of the 2024 election, White House, Congress, and international economics and security.

Meanwhile, Chris Roush brings extensive experience to his new role as senior editor for business and economics at Bloomberg News. Previously, he served as dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University and the Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. Roush has worked for several prominent news outlets including Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune, and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.

Roush is also a published author with works such as “Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication” and “Thinking Things Over,” a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster. As he begins his new role at Bloomberg News, Roush is looking forward to leading coverage on economic trends that impact businesses globally.
