The Doenges Ford Indians are set to host tryouts in downtown Bartlesville on May 16th, kicking off the start of summer. This marks the team’s 83rd year of existence and John Pannell will be returning as the manager for his 15th season overall. Despite the trend of high school players choosing travel baseball or larger metro area teams, Pannell believes playing for the Indians offers a unique experience that helps players grow.
The season opener is scheduled for Memorial Day weekend and the Indians will also participate in various tournaments throughout the summer. In addition to regular season games, they will make trips to Arkansas and participate in the Glen Winget Tournament at home. Fans can catch updates on Indian’s baseball on KWON and KWONTV.com throughout the summer.
Tryouts will begin at 7:00 on May 16th at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium, with players vying for a spot on the team’s 19-and-under squad. Pannell believes that playing for the Indians offers a unique experience that helps players grow, despite other options available to them such as travel baseball or larger metro area teams. With its rich history and commitment to player development, it’s clear why many young athletes continue to choose to play for the Doenges Ford Indians.
