Firework stands across the Lowcountry are experiencing a surge in business as the July 4 holiday approaches. One such stand, Hippie Grippie Fireworks, located near Goose Creek High School, has been operating in the area for almost 50 years, covering a total of 95 seasons combining the New Year’s Eve and Fourth of July holidays.
Grippie Lawson III shared that the business is family-run, with himself, his brother, dad, and cousin all involved in running stands for various family members. Safety is a top priority at Hippie Grippie Fireworks. Grippie urged customers to avoid holding fireworks with their hands, except for sparklers, emphasizing the importance of having fun while staying safe.
