Texans acquire Stefon Diggs in trade with Bills

In recent news, the Bills have decided to trade wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Texans. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, this decision will result in Buffalo facing a $31 million dead cap charge in 2024. Diggs is currently signed through 2027 and was originally a fifth-round pick in 2015.

Before joining the Bills in 2020, Diggs spent his first five seasons with the Vikings. In his first season with the Bills, he led the league in catches (127) and yards (1535), an impressive feat considering he was traded mid-season from Minnesota. In 2023, Diggs’ production slightly decreased, but he still managed to achieve over 100 catches (107) and 1,000 yards (1,183) for the fourth year in a row. He has surpassed 1,000 receiving yards for six consecutive seasons.

The decision by the Bills to part ways with Diggs may come as a surprise to some, given his impressive performance during his time with the team. However, it appears that Houston saw him as a valuable addition to their roster and were willing to give up significant assets in order to acquire him. Only time will tell if this decision proves successful for both teams.
