CBS NEWS Poll Finds that 72% of Participants Believe Biden is Lacking in Cognitive Abilities

The recent televised confrontation between Presidential contenders Joe Biden and Donald Trump has sparked a surge in doubts about incumbent President Biden’s candidacy. A survey published on CBS News revealed that three-quarters of respondents believe that Biden should not have run for president, marking a significant increase from February. Moreover, 72% of respondents think that Biden lacks the cognitive skills required for a second presidential term, compared to 49% who feel the same about Trump.

Among Democratic respondents, there has been a 10% decrease in support for Biden running for president. The reasons for this growing lack of confidence in Biden are attributed to concerns about his age, decision-making, performance, and campaign efficacy. Despite the credibility gap between the candidates, only 40% of respondents believed Biden was telling the truth in the televised debate, while 32% believed Trump.

The survey also highlighted financial perceptions of the two administrations. Despite the negative data for Biden, a majority of Democratic voters still believe he should continue his campaign, while 45% believe he should step down. Reports suggest that Biden will discuss his options with his family following concerns about his performance and intentions for the campaign.

The survey results reflect a growing lack of confidence in Biden’s candidacy as concerns about his age and decision-making weigh on public opinion. However, there is still division among Democratic voters on whether he should continue his campaign or step down. This pivotal moment will likely shape the future of the presidential race as Biden grapples with the fallout from the televised confrontation with Trump.
