Jeff Bezos closes in on Elon Musk as the world’s richest person after selling Amazon stock

According to recent reports, Jeff Bezos, the executive chairman of Amazon, may soon reclaim the title of the world’s richest person from Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Bloomberg estimates that Bezos’ net worth is currently $200 billion, making him the world’s second richest man. However, this may change as Bezos recently sold more than $2 billion worth of Amazon stock and has proposed to sell another 50 million shares around Feb. 7, worth an estimated $8.4 billion.

Bezos’ net worth is closely tied to his ownership of Amazon stock. This sale could potentially increase his net worth and move him back into the top spot on Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index. Forbes also calculates net worth differently than Bloomberg and has reported that Musk lost his No. 1 spot on their real-time billionaire tracker in late January due to a decline in Tesla’s stock price.

Despite these developments, Musk still holds the No. 1 spot on Forbes’ list with an estimated net worth of $201.6 billion, while Bezos sits at No. 3 with an estimated net worth of $195.9 billion. The battle for the title of the world’s richest person continues and will likely see further changes in the coming months as companies continue to navigate through these uncertain economic times.
