Despite being a Boston sports fan at heart, Portnoy’s decision to back the Phillies shows that he has confidence in their ability to win their first championship since 2008. His winning streak was halted when his pick for the Stanley Cup playoffs – the Edmonton Oilers – lost out in seven games.

Still, with such strong odds stacked against them – behind only two other teams (the Dodgers and Yankees) – it’s clear that Portnoy is confident that they have what it takes to win big next year.
