Baptist Health Paducah Offers Free Classes for Expecting Parents

Expecting parents, rejoice! Baptist Health Paducah is here to support you during this exciting but sometimes anxiety-inducing time. The hospital is offering free community classes in April to provide education, build confidence, and create a sense of community for expecting parents.

Led by health experts such as Board Certified Lactation Consultant Kim Coram and clinical educators Martha Veatch and Cindy Walker, the classes will cover topics such as childbirth, breastfeeding, and more. Expecting parents will have the opportunity to learn about the childbirth process by touring mom and baby rooms and Labor and Delivery. They will also cover visitor policies, what to expect once admitted, and answer any questions to help parents feel prepared for delivery.

For those interested in breastfeeding, there will be a Breastfeeding Matters class led by Coram. Additionally, there will be a Kangaroo Club support group led by her that offers a safe space for breastfeeding mothers to share experiences, voice concerns, and encourage one another in their breastfeeding journey.

The classes will take place at Baptist Health Paducah in the Zimmerman NICU Education Room and Maternal Child Unit. Scheduled classes for April include Breastfeeding Matters on April 2 from 6-8 p.m., Childbirth Class on April 9 from 5-7 p.m., April 20 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., and Kangaroo Club on April 11 from 1-2:30 p.m. Baptist Health emphasizes the importance of having reliable resources, advice
