India’s Under-19 Team No Longer Dominates World Cup Chase: Statistics

Australia won the Under-19 World Cup for a fourth time after defeating India by 79 runs. This marks the fourth time Australia has won the tournament, with previous victories in 1988, 2002, and 2010. Only India has won more titles, claiming a total of five crowns, including the previous edition in 2022. This also marks the fourth time India has finished as runners-up, the most by any team in the tournament’s history.

In the final match against India, Australia scored a total of 253 for 7 runs, which is now the highest total by any team in an Under-19 World Cup final. This surpasses England’s previous highest chase of 242 for 3 in the 1998 edition. The win against India marked Australia’s first victory against their rivals since 1998.

India’s loss to Australia ended their streak of winning while chasing in youth ODI matches with their previous defeat coming in August 2018 against Sri Lanka.
