HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Base officials are organizing a Health and Wellness Expo at the Fitness and Sports Center on October 4th from noon to 5 p.m. The focus of the expo will be on the four pillars of health and wellness, which include emotional, social, physical, and spiritual well-being. The goal of the event is to establish connections and partnerships between on-base agencies, local community partners, and Team Hanscom as a whole.
The expo is open to anyone with base access, including residents of Hanscom AFB family housing. Various base agencies, local businesses, and organizations will be present at the expo to provide resources, samples, demonstrations, giveaways, and more.
In addition, the event will bring together experts from different fields, such as representatives from the Bedford Veterans Administration Hospital, acupuncturists, massage therapists, and chiropractors. Exhibitors will assist attendees on their wellness journey, regardless of whether they are military members, federal employees, or family members.
The Health and Wellness Expo aims to make wellness accessible to all individuals. It supports mental health and fosters a community where discussing challenges is not only accepted but encouraged. The expo, which last took place in 2019, is aligned with the Department of the Air Force’s “Connect to Care” construct, which raises awareness about available resources and breaks down barriers of uncertainty.
To accommodate families, the event is organized to coincide with an early release of the Hanscom Primary and Middle Schools. Children accompanied by a parent or guardian can enjoy activities such as an inflatable bounce castle, yoga, a climbing wall, music, games, and more. Food trucks with various options for purchase will also be available on-site.
