The six game-worn jerseys of Lionel Messi from the 2022 World Cup are being listed by Sotheby’s for auction, with expectations of bringing in $10 million. These size medium jerseys were worn during two of Argentina’s group stage matches, the Round of 16, quarterfinal, semifinal, and championship rounds.

Messi’s Argentina squad suffered a disappointing defeat against Saudi Arabia in their first match. However, they went on to win their next six games and secure their first World Cup title since 1986. Messi scored seven goals during these matches and solidified his legacy as the fourth-leading scorer in the tournament’s history.

The jerseys are being sold as artifacts of Messi’s legacy and represent the culmination of a career filled with hard work and an unwavering passion for football. The auction for these jerseys will take place later this month.

After the World Cup, Messi joined Inter Miami and brought increased attention to Major League Soccer (MLS). Ticket prices for Inter Miami’s home and away games have risen significantly due to Messi’s influence on the league.

In addition to joining Inter Miami, Messi was also awarded FIFA’s Ballon d’Or for the eighth time in 2021. This made him the first active player in a U.S. league to receive this prestigious title. These achievements have solidified Messi’s impact and influence on the world of football today.
