Six athletes from Alabama Swimming and Diving selected for College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team

The Alabama swimming and diving team had six members named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team. This academic and athletic honor recognized the Crimson Tide’s top performers, both in the pool and in the classroom.

Among the honorees was Mackenzie Brandt, who earned a perfect 4.0 in communicative disorders, and Diana Petkova and Jake Marcum, who received the honor for the second consecutive year after being named to the all-district team in 2023. Bernardo Bondra de Almeida, Tim Korstanje, Kailyn Winter were named all-district recipients for the first time in their careers.

Winter finished her season as a two-time Second Team All-America honoree, earning her place as a member of both the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay teams. Petkova also competed with the 200 freestyle relay team at the NCAA Championships, securing All-America honors in that event. On the men’s side, Korstanje helped pace the 400 freestyle relay team to Second Team All-America honors at nationals. Marcum earned a spot in both the 100 and 200 backstroke at nationals and posted a ninth-place finish in his signature event of 200 backstroke at Southeastern Conference Championships. Brandt posted a season-best time of 16:16.97 in mile at SEC Championships, finishing eighth overall in that event. Almeida’s standout performance came when he set a career best mark in his signature event of 16:18.58 which ranked him fourth all time program history as well as an honorable mention of all time best performances list for Alabama Swimming & Diving programmed events by NCAA officials..
