The upcoming administration should prioritize economy, trade, and governance

It is clear that the BJP’s strategic move to secure alliances and acquisitions before the general elections was driven by a desire to succeed in upcoming assembly elections. This focus on winning elections, however, is only part of the equation for true progress. To make a lasting impact, it is crucial to prioritize governance and address issues such as corruption at the grassroots level.

It has become apparent that even states ruled by the BJP have been plagued by corruption and arrogance. The inclusion of allies like Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party only complicates matters. If Modi were to secure a third term, these problems are likely to intensify further. While Modi’s reputation for being incorruptible has helped in the past, addressing corruption at the local level is essential for meaningful progress in terms of improving business conditions.

While there have been accusations of influence over democratic institutions like the Election Commission of India and judiciary, it is important to distinguish between valid criticism and baseless accusations. However, it is clear that investigative agencies must enhance their credibility through judicial and police reforms. Ensuring justice is not only delivered but also seen to be done in a timely manner is vital for India’s progress. The example of Kashmir illustrates how reforms can happen simultaneously with progress.
