This week’s edition of the 18 Sports Plays of the Week has arrived, showcasing the best moments in local sports in Elmira, NY. The 18 Sports team highlights the standout plays from the past week across the Twin Tiers region.
The top play of this week includes a remarkable performance on the softball mound by Nicole Moffe during a HGSA 18 and Up Division game. Her impressive inning-ending play has earned her a spot atop the list.
In addition to Moffe’s performance, four major highlights in summer college baseball have also made it onto this week’s list. In the PGCBL, Cooper Smith delivered a walk-off 2-RBI double to help Elmira Pioneers secure a victory over Newark. Meanwhile, in Dansville, Elmira grad Jack Carozzoni and Horseheads grad Matt Procopio hit towering home runs against their hometown team. Procopio and Kyler Hickman also teamed up for an exciting play to end an inning during that same game.
