A Rolling Rebels Victory: Ole Miss Takes Down Southern Miss in Softball Showdown

In a thrilling softball game at the Ole Miss Softball Complex, Angelina DeLeon and Lexie Brady led Ole Miss to a 7-3 victory over Southern Miss. The Rebels’ offense was on fire, with DeLeon hitting her second home run of the season and Brady hitting her team-leading 13th home run. Grace Sparks also pitched well, striking out five batters over 3.2 innings to improve her record to 6-1.

Southern Miss scored first in the game, but Ole Miss quickly responded with three runs in the bottom of the first inning. After Southern Miss tied the score in the second inning, Sparks came into the game and pitched effectively to keep things even. However, it was not until the fourth inning that Ole Miss broke through with two more runs, thanks to hits from DeLeon and Ryan Starr. Lassiter then delivered a two-run single to put Ole Miss ahead 5-3.

The Rebels continued their attack in the sixth inning when DeLeon hit another two-run home run to make it a 7-3 game. With no way back for Southern Miss, Lopez finished off the game with a strong seventh inning to secure victory for Ole Miss. The Rebels will now prepare for their Senior Weekend series against Auburn from April 26-28.
