John Lennon once owned a guitar that has resurfaced after more than 50 years of being lost. The Framus 12-string Hootenanny guitar, used during the Beatles’ album ‘Help!’ and the film of the same name, was discovered in an attic in southern England. The guitar is set to be auctioned off at Julien’s Auctions at the end of May with an estimated price between $600,000 and $800,000.

Lennon gave the guitar to musician Gordon Waller in 1965, who passed it on to his manager before it disappeared into obscurity. The guitar remained undiscovered until Waller’s heirs stumbled upon it in the attic. Julien’s Auctions has decided to restore the guitar so that it can be played once again, giving music enthusiasts and collectors the chance to own a piece of rock and roll history.
