New Women’s Sports Bar ‘Watch Me’ Set to Open in Long Beach – NBC Los Angeles

Emme Eddy and Jax Diener, two visionaries in the world of women’s sports, believe that the success of female athletes like Caitlin Clark in the WNBA and the emergence of women’s soccer clubs like Angel City are strong indications that a sports bar specifically catering to women’s sports will be a huge hit. For years, Diener has held a dream of creating a space for women’s sports, and now he feels that the time is right as women’s sports have garnered significant attention and support over the years.

The duo is currently transforming an old Mexican restaurant off PCH in Long Beach into a sports bar called “Watch Me.” The name is inspired by the fact that women athletes often have to work harder to prove their abilities to doubters. The bar is set to open in July just in time for the Olympics, with a strong focus on showcasing women’s sports on most of the TVs.

The concept of sports bars dedicated to women’s sports has already proven successful, with “Sports Bra” generating nearly $1 million in revenue in just eight months since its opening. Diener and Eddy hope to replicate this success in Long Beach by aiming to have “95% women’s sports” content on display. They plan to be open every day during the Olympics before scaling back their hours following the closing ceremony.

Eddy believes that this concept will be well-received in California and expects “Watch Me” to be the first in a series of similar women’s sports bars to come. With more attention being paid to female athletes and teams, it seems that there is no better time than now for such a venture.
