IoT-connected devices have become increasingly important in the energy efficiency sector, with around 19 percent of connected devices in Spain being focused on this area. This is according to a study by UnaBiz, a provider of IoT connectivity services and designer of data platform solutions. The study analyzed a total of 5,444,908 connected devices.
UnaBiz highlights the importance of energy management in today’s landscape, where consumers, businesses, and society as a whole face challenges and opportunities. IoT technology has emerged as a key tool in promoting sustainable development and the energy transition. With real-time data collection and analysis capabilities, IoT-connected devices allow for the monitoring, controlling, and optimization of energy consumption.
The study reveals that 18.76 percent of IoT-connected objects in Spain are dedicated to the energy efficiency sector. Leading regions include the Balearic Islands, Catalonia, Andalusia, and Madrid. A significant portion of connected devices are being used for water consumption monitoring to detect leaks and prevent waste, as well as optimizing irrigation systems to save resources.
